About the event

Shibori is the Japanese form of dyeing using string and resist. Shibori textiles most often use indigo as the traditional dye. Students will learn 2 types of Nui shibori stitches: Mokumenui and Awesenui, the first class;  the second class covers ways to dye, one using an indigo vat.

A 2-part Indigo Stitched Shibori Workshop, sponsored by the Ontario County Arts Council, with instructor Mary Ann Proia, will be held September 16 & 23 from 10:00-12:00 pm, in the West Lake Schoolhouse, located on the corner of West Lake Drive and Butler Road, Canandaigua. On-site parking. Weather permitting, part of the class will be outside.

Requirements: basic knowledge of hand stitching helpful; ages 14 and up.

Students are asked to bring note taking materials and a sewing thimble. $15 material fee is payable to the instructor.
